Sample Weekly Practice Plan (1.5 Hrs each):

  • Footwork and Warm up drills. 
  • Mid to far shooting drills. (i.e. Time and room, Alley, Dodges across top, Far post)
  • COD drills. (i.e. Facing away post drill, Feed from behind, Across body)
  • Breakout drills.
  • Close shooting drills (i.e. Cross crease low, Close back and forth, Sticking the pipe)/ 
  • Individual work. Each Goalie will have individual time week by week to really focus on improving their personal play. This will occur throughout the clinic, it will provide focus on one goalie at a time.

*This layout can/will be changed week to week.

Goalie sessions are an hour and a half, and aimed at creating a solid fundamental goalie base, as well as improving each and every goalie's technique. During the five weeks of this clinic drills will range from simple goalie mechanics, to complex shooting drills, in order to create a well rounded curriculum. Clinics will ensure that each goalie gets specific training they as individuals need.

Both Boys and girls, of all ages and skill level, are encouraged to attend and take their goal-tending to the next level!

Harrison has over a decade of goalie play under his belt, including Wayzata High School, and Clarkson University (DIII). He has extensive coaching experience, training a wide variety of goalies, both girls and boys!

Niko Amato – Maryland 2x AA

Team MN Development Academy has teamed up with 2014 first team All-American goaltender and Kelly award winner, Niko Amato, to bring Minnesota players an unmatched learning experience for Goalies.

Amato was drafted 29th overall by the Florida Launch upon graduation from the University of Maryland, where he was a 2x All-American and a Kelly Award winner- which is given to the top NCAA goaltender at the end of each season.  Amato was also named 2014 ACC Defensive Player of the Year, elected as team captain, and was the first goalie in history to be named All-ACC four years in a row. Niko is currently an Assistant Coach at NCAA D2 Chestnut Hill College.

Clinic Highlights:

 

  • PHLow system (Stance/Feet/Hand/Eye) technique and drills.
  • Goalie Specific Athletic Drills - foot speed, balance, & body control
  • Demos/Talk (shot types, controlling and understating shooter locations)
  • Personal film review from shooting sessions
